Our social-media specialist, AaRon, had this to contribute about raising healthy kids:

I have noticed that my kids and I are starting to become overweight and out of shape.  The time has come to do something about this-- but where to start?  There is so much information out there and so many different so-called healthy food choices at the supermarket.  I have committed to a healthy lifestyle; now I need to unlearn all those years of unhealthy living

The obvious place to start seems like exercise.  But exercise is boring.  How do I make it fun for the kids?  Here at A-Ron’s Healthy Heart Academy (also known as Ah Ha!) we have developed a fun exercise the whole family can enjoy.  No special equipment is necessary--all you need is a couch.  Couch-jumping is a lot of fun. You can either just bounce up and down, or run in place.  This really gets the heart pumping!   Couch-jumping does require some energy, so I have noticed it’s a good idea to eat a couple of power sticks before you get started.   I will attach my free recipe.

The moral of the story is that my kids will do what I do.  If I sit around on the couch and eat junkfood, then so do they.  But when I have a power stick and jump on the couch, so do they.   I have learned that I need to lead by example.  Mandatory Dancing whenever music comes on the TV is still in its developmental stages.
